Fleur.hk is always looking for great people, although sometimes we do not have specific slots to fill, and we tend to be selective to the people we work with. Fleur.hk is an online flower shop that uses innovative technologies to provide a better shopping experience. And very often buzzwords-of-the-day stuff won't get our job done but require the ability to find alternative and original solutions. Our first priority is to assemble a team that is smart, capable, and insanely fun to work with. However, we will never set an arbitrary deadline for hiring.

Position 1: J2ME Developer for GPS Mobile Location Application

Fleur.hk would like to hire a Java developer for a mobile GPS location application. This developer will be responsible for a delivery tracking system that will integrate with GPS and server side logics on multiple platforms, from Mac OS X to Debian Linux. The developer will also provide architectural solutions with third-party web services API access to the engine, data storage and retrieval and event modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, architecting and coding of Delivery Engine client for a selected range of mobile Nokia, Sony-Ericsson mobile phones
  • Writing server side codes in Python using Django framework, or Java using Apple WebObjects
  • Work with other team members to integrate engine code
  • Provide time estimates of tasks

Required Skills

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or Physics
  • 3+ years of software development experience, focusing on J2SE with various Java frameworks and J2ME
  • Success at completing development projects with responsibilities in all phases of development
  • Proven track record successfully using object-oriented design and development methodologies to deliver high quality, efficient and in-production systems.
  • Solid MySQL or PostgresSQL development experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff, in English
  • Very proficient with Subversion and GNU tools on Linux, Mac OS X.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge on open source GIS tools
  • Extensive Python, Lisp or Ruby coding experience
  • Exposure to J2ME and Nokia Series 40, 60+
  • Mobile UI design
  • Porting code between platforms
  • Passion for GIS and data mining
  • A scientific mind


Position 2: Customer Support Representative

Fleur.hk would like to hire a customer representative for handling customer inquiries over the phone, email and web chat.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely answers to customer inquiries by email
  • Engage live conversations on web chat and Skype
  • Provide a warm and friendly phone support for fleur.hk
  • Update product catalogues on Fleur.hk portal

Required Skills

  • BS degree(s) in Liberal Studies, language, Art or Business
  • Speak at least 3 of the follow languages: English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and French
  • Comfortable with Macs (Fleur.hk does not run Windows for desktops)

Preferred "Skills"

  • An eye for design
  • A beautiful mind


What kind of applicants are we seeking?

You must be the sort of person who can see the glamor in any project if it helps Fleur.hk to succeed! We are looking for someone who is smart, but not arrogant. If you think you know all the answers, we're not interested.

If the job involves software development, you are expected to write codes in interviews. ( We are very practical however, we won't ask brain twisting questions like "how many gas stations in USA" or "Why portholes are round..." )
